Shop.AMD.com sends millions of dollars of products into partner shopping cartsThe ChallengeKnown as the market leader for high performance microprocessors, high end PC users and hard-core gamers seek out the latest and greatest machines powered by AMD processors. Often, their search begins with visits to AMD.com to research product specifications and computer configurations available. However, AMD does not do direct-to-consumer sales, but relies on retail channel partners and OEMs to sell AMD powered computers. AMD wanted a way to turn their valuable site traffic into real measurable sales with those retail partners. The Solution In March of 2006, AMD launched a brand new selling environment on their AMD site (shop.amd.com) which allows customers to browse and select products and place them directly into an AMD channel partners’ shopping cart ready for checkout. Consumers can now search by retailer, processor, system type, specification, or price range and find an exact PC that meets their needs best and then buy that directly from an AMD retail partner. |

Channel Cart™ automatically updates and presents all available machines, specs and configurations from the largest and smallest retailers alike. Data across all retailers are normalized and presented with current features, prices, and availability. Once a product is chosen, the visitor chooses the retailer and clicks buy now – and the product is placed directly into that partners’ cart, bypassing competitive products and offers.
The Results Extended tracking now lets AMD see not only what people are searching for on their website, but now they can see what products are being selected and chosen to be placed in retailers’ carts. In the first 30 days after the site launch, there were over 20,000 ‘Buy Now’ clicks, placing over $29,000,000 worth of AMD powered machines into partners’ shopping carts ready for purchase! |
